A short note on Piracy
The term piracy originally meant robbing a ship at sea by pirates. However, it is now also used to define the illegal use of a work that has been copyrighted by others. Therefore, piracy means infringement of copyright.
People engage in piracy because of the following reasons.
- High prices of the original work.
- Unavailability of the original work.
- Restriction on the use of work outside a region or a country.
Some of the pirated work generally available online for download or available for sale in markets are computer software, movies, music CDs, mobile applications, etc.
