Meaning of ANIMATISM:
Given by R.R. Marett as a critique of Tylor’s theory of Animism, it is a belief that an impersonal, non anthropomorphised force exists as a supematural attribute of persons and things. For instance, if any person has some exceptional qualities, it is because of the presence of this force in him Animalism is also known as Manaism in Polynesian tribes and the force is called Mana. According to Marett, Animatism was a preanimistic stage.
