Meaning of ACTION; SOCIAL ACTION

Meaning of ACTION; SOCIAL ACTION:

Action or behaviour is a psychological category and has been regarded as the basic unit by many psychologists. In this connection it is usual to of the Behaviourists, i.e. those who subscribe to the fundamental propositions of J.B. Watson. Yet a more useful term is that of social action, which is used both by social psychologists and sociologists. This is regarded by many as the proper unit of observation in the social sciences. Action is social when the actor behaves in such a manner that his action is intended to influence the actions of one or more other persons. Thus interaction is the context in which the personality develops.
