Meaning of ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION:

A concept given by David C Mclelland (1961) which refers to the relationship between the motivation to do well in a person with the extent of his achievement. Achievement motivation greatly affects his endeavor and determination to reach a standard of excellence. It is the most important factor of capitalist activity and a cause of economic growth. Mclelland has been criticised for focussing only on the individual motivation while neglecting the socio-cultural factors that influence their motivation.
